Promote Your School Scholarship for rising Juniors

Kentucky rising junior may win scholarship, photo shoot at school A rising junior at one of Kentucky’s public or private high schools will win a $500 scholarship and a photo shoot at his or her school through the “Promote Your School” scholarship contest, sponsored by KHEAA. The school must participate in the Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship (KEES) program. To enter, the student must submit an essay about one of these subjects: • How I will inspire others to do better. • How education makes a stronger community. The essay must be no more than 200 words long and cannot mention the student’s name, school, county or community. The essay topic must be shown at the top of the page. The student’s name, address and high school must be listed at the bottom of the essay. The student must be a junior during the 2019–2020 school year. Raider Band Winter programs have great weekend!

Congratulations to the Raider Band winter programs on a very successful weekend.

The groups competed at Daviess County High School on Saturday. The HC Cadets placed first in their class,  HC Winds placed 1st in their class and the HC Winter Guard placed 1st in their class.

Kentucky Science Pathways offers summer research internship at UK

Kentucky Science Pathways (KSP), a summer research internship program for high school students, is accepting applications for its summer 2019 program at the University of Kentucky in Lexington.

The program offers students a hands-on eight-week summer internship with scientists on the UK campus in a variety of science disciplines. It is intended to promote science education by connecting UK researchers with the Lexington community and to introduce high school students to scientific research career paths.

Students must be age 16 or older and entering grades 10-12. The application deadline is March 31. Visit KSP’s website for more information.
