Welcome to my teacher page! I am Mrs. Scott, the ELA (English/Language Arts) teacher for grades 6-8 at LeGrande School. This is my twelth school year at LeGrande and as always I am very excited about returning for another school year. LeGrande has become my second home and family, and I can't imagine being anywhere else. ELA is a very important subject as we focus on learning the English language, reading, and writing. All students are assessed in reading and grades 6 and 8 are assessed in writing. I love to teach this subject and can't wait to help you explore it and become a better reader and writer!
A few things about me:
I have an associates degree in social sciences, a bachelor's degree in middle grades education for language arts and social studies, and a master's degree in curriculum, instruction, and assessment. I hope to one day earn a Rank I degree!
I grew up in Rockfield/Bowling Green, KY, but I have lived near this area since taking this job. I have a husband, Stuart, who went to school in Hart County. Together, we have three children, Anna Beth, Samuel, and Ean, and a dog, Georgia. They are the most important people in the world to me and you will probably hear a lot about them! I am a Christian and I attend church where I grew up in Rockfield. There, I enjoy taking care of the babies in the nursery and serving on the youth council and on the library committee.
Food: Chocolate of course! But I also really enjoy pasta and fresh fruits and veggies.
Drinks: Coffee and Tea
Authors: C.S. Lewis and Lois Lowry
Colors: Purple and Green
Hobbies: Cooking, Reading, Gardening, watching movies & TV, and hanging out with my family
Sport/Sports Team: UK basketball of course! But I really like baseball too.
This is going to be a great year and I am excited to be able to spend it with you!
